Universiti Malaya is delighted to invite staff and students from your university to participate in the forthcoming UM Virtual International Week 2020. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, internationalization activities are considered essential especially in providing a platform to cultivate international experiences for students. This week-long event promises to share the best practices of internationalization strategies of Higher Education Institutions as well as providing training in certain required skill sets for staff working in international offices and related fields. With the theme “Embracing Diversity for a Better Tomorrow”, we hope to make this event a platform for students and staff to come together and share experiences, challenges and uncertainties brought about by the current situation.

On 21-26 September 2020, the 180th AUN-QA Programme Assessment was conducted at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). It is the first ever AUN-QA Assessment to be conducted at the university. The Young SEAkers ASEAN-China Youth Forum is a c roundtable session that was a part of the FutureChina Global Forum 2020. The Youth Forum seeks to complement the main forum by providing a platform for youths to express their opinions. This is the first time the youth forum is explicitly open to participants from across the ASEAN region.

This panel session explored the opportunities post COVID-19 and insights from the perspective of university students in ASEAN and China regarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on students’ activity and expectations.

Newly unveiled Human Resource Development Roadmap displays the vision of ASEAN leaders toward a dynamic labour market
On 15-16 September 2020, Viet Nam, the current chair of ASEAN, hosted the ASEAN High-Level Conference on Human Resources Development (HRD) in a Changing World. This virtual conference provides a space for delegates of ASEAN countries, intergovernmental organizations as well as transnational organizations to share their experiences in working in the HRD area in the ASEAN region. One of the most important agendas this year was to launch the “Roadmap of the ASEAN Declaration on Human Resources Development for the Changing World of Work”, which covers the HRD work plans of many ASEAN sectoral bodies.

Research Festival (RESFES 2020) is a specialized contest to share and exchange knowledge and experience about science – technology, business administration, languages, etc. between students of FPT Education and other universities.
 
This year, the theme of RESFES is "What should we do if the global pandemic happens?" Students will be asked to do research to come up with solutions for all aspects of society from economics to medical technology. They will be split into four subcommittees focusing on different fields: Information Technology, Graphic Design, Business Administration and Languages.

The National University of Laos: Response to COVID-19
The government of Lao has employed preventive measures against COVID-19 since the beginning of January 2020. This includes the ‘Education COVID-19 Response Plan’ where all universities and higher institutions in Laos are to refer to the MOE’s updated reports. The 2020 ASEAN-Korea Academic Essay Contest invites students to conduct in-depth intellectual works on how ASEAN and Korea can navigate through the present uncertainties and turn this crisis into an opportunity under the theme “ASEAN-Korea Digital Partnership in the Post-COVID-19 Era”.

On 28 August 2020, Viet Nam, with the support of the ASEAN Secretariat and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), organized the 11th ASEAN Connectivity Symposium under the theme “Enhancing ASEAN Cohesiveness, Responsiveness through Resilient Connectivity and Human Capital Development”. AUN-HRE continues to propel human rights and peace education forward with new regional collaborative program
ASEAN/Southeast Asia is propelling human rights and peace education forwards. While the region houses a number of courses in those subjects, full degree programs are still lacking in half of the ASEAN Member States. AUN-HRE is starting an initiative to fill that existing void. Launching of “University Performance Metrics” (UPM)— the Initial Step towards a Rating System developed by Vietnam
On 18 August 2020, Vietnam National University-Hanoi (VNU) and the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Secretariat jointly organized an international conference to introduce the “University Performance Metrics” (UPM) initiated and developed by VNU researchers. UPM is a rating system, the development of which was funded by the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training, to assess the responsiveness of universities in the 4th Industrial Revolution era. The rating system will also provide a tool that will allow universities to be able to form bilateral cooperative efforts like exchange and research programs through its robust criteria.

Registrations for the AASYP Reset: ASEAN-Australia Youth Innovation Challenge are now open!
AASYP Reset is a virtual innovation challenge inviting recent graduates, current university students and young professionals of all disciplines across ASEAN and Australia to collaborate on projects that foster stronger people to people connections between youth in our region. 
 
Work in a team of between two to four people, registered participants will conduct research, apply design thinking approaches and reimagine new possibilities to enhance people to people relations between youth across Australia and the ASEAN region.
 
Eligibility: Citizens of Australia or an ASEAN member state aged 18-29 years.

QA experts discuss quality assurance for online and distance learning in SHARE webinar
QA experts, including AUN-QA Technical Team's Johnson Ong Chee Bin, discussed quality assurance in the COVID and post-COVID era as part of a webinar series organized by EU-SHARE. E-assessments and quality assurance for online learning were among the topics discussed.

A quick chat with the last pre-corona AUN intern
Mr. Muhammad Azim bin Anuar from Universiti Brunei Darussalam was the last on-site intern at the AUN before Thailand went into lockdown to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. After safely returning home, Azim resumed his internship with us from home through a virtual internship program. We invited him to share his unique experiences with the AUN internship program.

AUN ACTS steers student mobility through the pandemic
As the pandemic rages and borders remain closed, ACTS continues to monitor the decline in student mobility. Some universities are welcoming prospective exchange students to join through the internet but physical mobility is still uncertain going into 2021. 
Learn Indonesian with LINGUA
If you are a student interested in learning about the Indonesian language and culture, then Universitas Airlangga's new program LINGUA may interest you! The program has courses for both beginners and intermediates. It will take place over a semester (5 months, 50 meetings). Scholarships are also available for international students. The program will take place from September-December 2020.

AUN-QA Council exploring new frontiers
On 11 June 2020, the council approved groundbreaking initiatives which include the brand new Guide to AUN-QA Assessment at Programme Level Version 4.0, the first ever online/remote site visit in AUN-QA Programme Assessment history, and approved the Master Class Training Workshop project idea for the Appointed AUN-QA Tier 1 Trainer. 
First AUN-CA Online Board Meeting signals beginning of online arts and culture activities
The Meeting has decided to conduct a week-long arts and culture e-activities program after considering the COVID-19 situation and government responses reported by representatives from various ASEAN countries.
Happening now! SHARE Policy Dialogue Webinar series
This is the first time that SHARE’s Policy Dialogue is organized as an online webinar and it is one of the first ever webinar series to be synchronized online via the Youtube platform.
